Night Sweats

Night Sweats

Night sweats are hot flushes that occur during sleep, causing episodes of intense sweating that can soak clothing and bedding, leading to repeated waking and poor-quality sleep.

They are one of the most disruptive menopause symptoms, affecting mood, concentration, and daytime energy levels. Night sweats are driven by fluctuating oestrogen levels interfering directly with the brain’s thermostat. Keeping the bedroom cool, wearing breathable fabrics, avoiding alcohol before bed, and using layered bedding can all provide some relief.

However, for many women these measures are simply not enough. At The York Clinic, our experienced clinicians can assess your symptoms, explore whether HRT or other non-hormonal treatments are appropriate for you, and help you reclaim the restorative sleep your body needs.
