Dr Jim Read is a GP and director of The York Clinic. After finishing training in Edinburgh he has worked in the York as an NHS GP for the last 15 years. Over the last decade he has been director of prescribing for a large NHS primary care organisation, developing systems to keep patients safe. Innovation to improve patient care is his passion. In recent years he has created a number of clinical systems and services to improve healthcare access and delivery. After covid he was heavily involved in trying to secure access to HRT for women in our region, and became aware of how difficult it was for women to access advice and treatment, and the risks of swapping HRT due to shortages.
In his spare time he enjoys walking, cycling, mountain biking and running; anything that gets him outside, and especially up onto the moors. Most of all he loves spending time with his three teenage children, watching their plays and concerts, their antics on climbing walls, and travelling together.
Working with Dr Bedford, they created the York Clinic, a service dedicated to guaranteeing a supply of medication and giving quick access to expert clinicians.
