Advanced Certificate Training at The York Clinic

The York Clinic provides expert training for the British Menopause Society (BMS) Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care. We understand the high demand for this qualification and are committed to delivering high-quality, personalised training. To ensure the best learning experience, we limit the number of trainees we support at any given time.

Who Can Apply

Our training is designed for experienced clinicians already providing menopause care. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be currently working with menopause patients in either the NHS or private sector.
  • Hold a permanent role in a CQC-regulated organisation in the UK.
  • Be fully registered with a UK regulatory body, licensed to practice, and have appropriate indemnity.
  • Have the support of their employing organisation to undertake this training.
Advanced Certificate Training

Training Overview

Our lead trainer, Dr. Melanie Fitter, is an experienced GP and menopause specialist. She provides BMS-accredited training alongside coil and implant insertion/removal training in the region. Dr. Fitter currently works in General Practice with Nimbuscare and has previous experience with the Leeds Community Gynaecology Service.

We offer structured training delivered by a recognised BMS trainer, which includes:

Up to 16 hours of clinical supervision and menopause clinic debriefing (1 hour per week or equivalent, delivered online with flexible scheduling).

Three two-hour tutorials covering key aspects of menopause care.

Ongoing clinical advice and support throughout training, including governance for complex cases.

Assessment administration completed by your tutor.

Optional in-person support within York and surrounding areas (additional travel costs apply for further locations).

Training Cost

The full cost of the training is £3,900.

We welcome applications from doctors, independent nurse prescribers, and pharmacist independent prescribers who meet the eligibility criteria.

Who is This Course For?
 
The BMS Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care is designed for healthcare professionals managing complex menopause cases and accepting external referrals. It is ideal for:

  • GPs with an Extended Role in Menopause (GPwER).
  • Specialists working in hospital or community menopause services.
  • Healthcare professionals leading menopause services in private practice.
