Dr Melanie Fitter works as an NHS GP and holds both an accredited postgraduate qualification in Women’s Health, and the Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care from the British Menopause Society. She holds additional post-graduate qualifications with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and trains clinicans in contraceptive coil and implant placement. She is also one of the few doctors qualified to train and supervise doctors in menopause care.
In 2023 Dr Fitter helped to establish and deliver a city-wide specialist community women’s health service. She continues to provide primary care Women’s Health and Menopause services to NHS patients, alongside working for York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Gynaecology department. She previously worked for the Community Gynaecology Service for Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
In her spare time she is a beekeeper, loves gardening and plays cello. She has an expanding aviary of exotic Australasian birds.
